The North American Deserts | The Factroom

 Great basin, Mojave, Chihuahuan and Sonoran deserts are the 4 primary deserts of North America. The largest one of them is the Chihuahuan desert. Let us discuss about the North American deserts in detail which includes the flora, fauna and the lifestyle of the people dwelling in that region.

FLORA

Exotic trees like sagebrush, Joshua trees, creosote bush and a species of cacti are extremely common in the Great Basin region while shrubs and trees like cat’s claw, iron wood, burrobush, smoke tree and mesquite are common in the Sonoran deserts . These trees have adapted to the extreme weather that goes throughout the year.

FAUNA

Even though the climate conditions of these places are not adequate a wide range of animals reside in these areas. Scorpions, Bobcat, Turkey Vulture and Rattlesnakes are some the most important and renowned animals of this place.

LIFE OF THE PEOPLE IN THE NORTH AMERICAN DESERTS.

The people of these places were nomads and hunter-gatherers. Nowadays these places are famous for their nature parks and wildlife sanctuaries. Some people of these places have indeginious beliefs but still in the modern era it is a bit uncommon. These places offer various jobs to people as these places have natural resource extraction areas like the gold mines in Mojave.
