1.        Dinghy(noun): Meaning- It is a small, open, rowing boat.

Origin- It originates from the Hindi word ‘dingi’. People began using this word for the boats that were used in the early 19th century for crossing small rivers in India.

Usage in a sentence- The senator was escorted to the cruise in a dinghy where he had a gala time.

 


2.      Cot(noun): Meaning- It is a small bed which has a flat and smooth surface.

Origin- It originates from the Hindi word ‘khat’. People began using this word for the bedsteads that were used centuries ago, just after the conclusion of the late medieval period.
